Marylebone High Street

Barbara Weiss Architects has recently completed its 31 rental apartment projects on Marylebone High Street for Dorrington. The brief included a total internal re-configuration of seven very different historic brick buildings, now combined to form a single mansion block over four floors, as well as the addition of new residential units and common areas to the rear and at roof level. As part of the overall project, the tired retail shopfronts were also re-designed and clad in Portland stone, unifying the elevational composition on the High Street. To the rear, what was a large expanse of higgledy piggledy plant space on the first-floor roof space has now been rationalised and transformed into a ‘green urban oasis’ for the residents, a rare quiet and private green amenity in the heart of urban London.
BWA also acted as interior designers for half of the flats, furnished with a combination of mid-century vintage pieces and design icons.
